Kim Clayton started her path to a healthier lifestyle in 2017, and she wrote a letter to us letting us know how much she has enjoyed her time with Personal Trainer Ty Kocher and the successes they have achieved.
I wanted to compliment you and show and share with you my incredible journey at Evans Fitness Club with your Personal Trainer Ty Kocher. The picture on the left is before I started training with Ty, and the picture on the right is currently! I took advantage of EFC’s Personal Training Program in November 2017, and I was extremely fortunate to have been placed with Ty. At that time, as you can see from the picture on the left, I was fifty years old, stood 5’4”, and I weighed two hundred pounds! I started out training with Ty two times per week. And, I have to admit at that time, my performance and my confidence in my performance were pitiful.
Prior to that time, when I would occasionally visit the gym, my workout always involved utilizing the elliptical, the treadmill, the bike, and that was pretty much it. I can remember early on in my sessions, Ty putting me on the rowing machine. It was literally all I could do to row for two or three consecutive minutes; I was exhausted and completely out of breath. Not to mention that pretty much any time Ty would introduce something new to me, it would always be followed by me with an “I can’t do that!” But I soon developed a trust in Ty, trusting his exceptional knowledge and expertise in that he would never make me do anything that he did not think I could do. And, with his guidance and genuine support, I was totally amazed at what I actually could do; things like climbing the stairs, the Stair Stepper, Jacob’s Ladder, pushing and pulling the sleds, and utilizing strength training machines available at EFC.
During the first month of training, I was able to shed ten pounds, and over the next several months I became stronger. My endurance improved immensely, but I still was not wholeheartedly committed in order to really achieve the results I was looking for as far as my weight. I would occasionally come to the gym on the days I did not have sessions with Ty, and my eating habits had not really changed. Ty would always make a point to inquire about what I was eating at every session and try to persuade me to develop healthy eating habits. My family ate a lot of fast food, and I would frequently find myself snacking during evening hours. It wasn’t until during one of our discussions about eating that it clicked with me, and I finally got it. What he said stuck with me, and it finally motivated and inspired me to really want to give this program my all. He told me, “You cannot out-train a bad diet.” He explained I could exercise and exercise, but if I left the gym and continued to eat fast food and continued snacking at night, then I really wasn’t getting the maximum results of all the work I was putting into it. He told me to give him four weeks of eating healthy and consistently coming to the gym, even on the days I did not have a session, and he assured me that I would start seeing some results. I did commit to that, and we have seen results, huge results! TO DATE, I HAVE LOST A TOTAL OF FORTY POUNDS TRAINING WITH TY! We still have twenty more pounds to go until I reach my target weight, but I am confident with his help I will achieve that. I just cannot begin to tell you how much Ty and the EFC’s Personal Training Program has impacted and changed my life.
Ty possesses exceptional knowledge and expertise in Personal Training. His passion and enthusiasm for what he does continue to inspire me daily to want to give my all to this program and be the best I can be. His compassion, kind words of encouragement, motivation, unbelievable support and guidance have helped me reach my personal fitness goals and truly make a lifestyle change. I know without a doubt I could have never done all of this on my own without him. He challenges me and pushes me a lot further than I would push myself. I am fifty-one years old, and, thanks to Ty, I am running for the first time ever, which is one specific thing I told him early on I could not do. I can do thirty-minute intervals now on the Stair Stepper, the rower, climbing stairs, even pushing and pulling the sleds. He has been so patient with me. He takes the time to answer my questions, listens to me, and counsels me on my diet and food choices. I am so much happier these days! I feel great and actually have energy to do things now. I eat healthier and concentrate on my food choices. I have gained confidence in myself again after all these years. Any my husband says it is one of the best investments we have made, for me to be healthy and physically fit! I have made the gym part of my daily life. At fifty-one years old, I feel better now than I have in many, many years. You truly have a first-rate, top-notch Personal Trainer with Ty Kocher. He has certainly changed my life, and I am forever grateful!
